Michael Logozar & Louis Landon

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Whisperings solo piano concert by Michael Logozar & Louis Landon last night at the Steinway Piano Gallery showroom in Austin, Texas. We were lucky to have a front row seat listening to them play a 9-foot Steinway model D Concert Grand piano. I have attended several house concerts at Michael & Kendra Logozar’s, but this was the first time I had the chance to meet Louis and hear him in person.

Concert Playlist

It was a lovely evening listening to their music, and I thought I would share the concert playlist for you to enjoy as well. They finished the evening with a two-person improvisation based on just 3 notes selected by an audience member. Amazing talent!

The Head and the Heart @ Stubb’s Austin

I attended a concert by The Head and the Heart at the Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on October 28, 2016 in Austin, Texas, with British singer/songwriter Declan McKenna opening.

These are some videos from the evening that you might enjoy.

Let’s Be Still on Let’s Be Still (2013) – 6 min 11 sec

Down in the Valley on The Head and the Heart (2010) – 3 min 22 sec

Sounds Like Hallelujah on The Head and the Heart (2010) – 3 min 3 sec

Cats and Dogs on The Head and the Heart (2010) – 6 min 49 sec

Rivers and Roads on The Head and the Heart (2010) – 5 min 40 sec

I took additional short clips as well but my iPhone kept running out of space (most were probably less than a minute). Then I would frantically try to delete some apps to clear some room, but this would repeat on quite a few more songs. So I felt they were all too short to share and didn’t include them.

If you want to listen to more music from The Head and the Heart, see my post with playlist, albums, videos, and links.

Ivan & Alyosha

Ivan & Alyosha

Here’s some folk-pop music by Ivan & Alyosha from Seattle that you can listen to on Spotify.

The band takes its name from characters in the novel The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I saw them perform for a SXSW day party at Home Slice Pizza in Austin several years ago and remember that I liked them, then forgot about them for a while, but recently rediscovered their music again when they released another album.

Playlist

Here is my playlist of their songs.

House Concert: Tim Neumark with Michael Logozar and Darla Bower

This Saturday afternoon, June 20th, I attended a Whisperings Solo Piano House Concert featuring Tim Neumark along with Michael Logozar and Darla Bower. It lasted about 2 hours at the Logozar home in Round Rock, Texas (near Austin) in the piano studio overlooking their patio deck and creek. What a wonderful experience to be able to listen to these fantastic piano artists perform live right in front of me, along with about a small group of about 30-40 other invited guests.

Also, it was great to meet and talk with them personally. What amazing talent and such beautiful solo piano music! I’m excited because Michael Logozar told me they plan to have about four concerts a year. I feel lucky that I have this opportunity.

Concert Playlist

Here is an approximate playlist of the songs performed during the concert. Also Darla played some unpublished  songs: one called Falling Petals, and a new playful classical piece.

“Concert – 2015 June 20 (Playlist) – 14 songs, 59 min

Photos

I have included a few photos which I took during the concert as each of them performed. Also, they all participated in a spontaneous improvisation at the end which they made up on the spot based on three random notes from an audience member. It’s amazing how they can just jointly all compose on the spot, and even play together, as they shift around bench positions on the fly, and it all sounds really good.

Also, I was the winner of a CD giveaway drawing, and I got the album Heart by Doug Hammer. Here’s a photo of the CD cover.

I have also included the album playlist here as well.

House Concert: Christine Brown with Michael and Kendra Logozar

I had a unique opportunity to receive an invitation to attend a Whisperings House Concert featuring Christine Brown along with Michael Logozar and Kendra Logozar. It was about 2 hours at the Logozar home in Round Rock, Texas (near Austin) in the piano studio overlooking their patio deck and creek in the afternoon on April 11th. What a wonderful experience to listen to these fantastic piano artists perform live right in front of my wife and I, along with about 30 other guests.

Also, it was great to meet and talk with them personally. They even knew who I was because they follow my blog, and thanked me for sharing their music with others. What amazing talent and such beautiful solo piano music! I look forward to hearing more artists at future Whisperings house concerts at the Logozar’s home; he indicated that they plan to have about four a year. I was so mesmerized by the music and the experience, I forgot to take any photos.

Slaid Cleaves

Here’s some country music by Slaid Cleaves for you to listen with Spotify.

The music of Austin-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Slaid Cleaves is rooted in country and traditional folk songs. I saw him perform twice at the Cactus Cafe in Austin. The first time his childhood friend Rod Picott opened for him, with whom he has co-written quite a few songs; the other time he performed for the entire evening.

Songs

Here are some of his more popular songs.
